Equipment

  • Food processor or Blender
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Airtight container

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a food processor or blender.
  • Pulse the ingredients until a smooth paste forms. If the mixture is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water to thin it out.
  • Taste the paste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more chili powder for heat or more salt for flavor.
  • Once the paste is to your liking, transfer it to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Notes

Remember, Tex Mex paste is a concentrated flavoring agent, so a little goes a long way. Start with a small amount and adjust to taste as needed. And, since Tex Mex paste can be spicy, you may want to adjust the amount of paste you use depending on your spice tolerance.
