Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla and mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chunks.
Using a cookie scoop or spoon, portion the dough into 2-ounce balls (about 1/4 cup each). Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 3 inches apart.
Bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
