Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together the mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  • Heat the mixture over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until it comes to a simmer.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  • Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed with salt, pepper, or additional spices.
  • Transfer the sauce to a glass jar or container with a lid and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Notes

  • To make the sauce smoother, you can blend the ingredients together in a blender before cooking.
  • If the sauce is too thick, you can thin it out with a little bit of water or apple cider vinegar.
  • For a spicier sauce, you can add more cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce.
  • If you want a sweeter sauce, you can add more honey or brown sugar to taste. Conversely, if you want a less sweet sauce, you can reduce the amount of honey or brown sugar.
